Should you read this book? Absolutely! Read it, study it, and read it again. If you take it seriously, it can have a huge impact on different facets of your life!
This book was published in 1937 and it’s still as relevant today as it was back then. This was the first ever bestseller in the “self-help” genre, but this is more than that. I. Have found the techniques here presented are really helpful when it comes to interpersonal relations in a business context. Before reading this book, networking seem like a daunting task; any effort I made at networking felt forced and unnatural. Reading this book definitely changed my outlook and I definitely feel a lot more comfortable and actually enjoy any chance I get to networking and learning more about the people I work with.
The topics covered in the book: “Fundamental Techniques in Handling People”, “Six Ways to Make People Like You”, “Twelve Ways to Win People to Your Way of Thinking”, and “Be a Leader: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment”. It is amazing how all the topics and stories the author shares still make sense in today’s world, and how the applicability of all these insights is quite vast.
The writing format is very simple and reader friendly. Dale Carnegie uses plenty of real life stories and situations to illustrate some of the points he is trying to make, many of them coming from his students in the many public speaking clases he held in his time. He brings in additional insights to further support his from other authors and notorious personalities.
This is a highly recommended read, which will help you understand people in deeper, more meaningful level!
