One of my favorite shows is The Big Bang Theory and in one of their last episodes they had a very interesting discussion topic that I want to put up for discussion right here. Nothing serious, just a bit of fun! In order to participate you need to have seen the classic movie Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark… Ready? Go!
After Amy and Sheldon finish watching the movie, Sheldon excitedly asks Amy what she though of it.
After another snarky comment I won’t repeat here (in the interest of time), Amy answered:
It was very entertaining despite the glaring story problem
To which she adds:
Indiana Jones plays no role in the outcome of the story. If he weren’t in the film, it would turn out exactly the same.(…) and if he weren’t in the movie, the Nazis would have still found the Ark, taken it to island, opened it up, and all died, just like they did
GASP! SHE IS RIGHT!
Or is she?
I have a couple of ideas on why she is not, but I want to hear it from you first! Let’s have a chat, shall we?
Amy might be right in the sense that perhaps without Indy the plot wouldn’t have changed much. But oh a movie without the uber handsome Harrison Ford (in his youth) is like sunshine without warmth on a cold winter day ;-P
