First, there was this movie. And now this one. Guys, everything I believe in is shattered! The previous Mission Impossible installment was a good one, but if we look at the history of the franchise, it’s kind of a hit and miss. So when Mr. Cruise himself appears in every talk show promoting the heck out of this movie, you had to wonder, which one are we dealing with here, the hit or the miss? Surprisingly, it’s the former…
Synopsis and credits: Read on IMDB
Ethan Hunt and the now dissbanded team at IMF, fight together to bring down the Syndicate, a criminal organization hellbent on causing mayhem around the world. Hunt joins forces with Ilsa Faust, a disavowed British intelligence agent whose intentions could be either to bring down the Syndicate, or IMF.
It should be clear this movie will not win an Oscar (mainly because action movies are rarely even considered, no matter how good), but it is still a very good movie. The storyline is generally captivating, with and the familiar characters from the previous installment adding to its allure: Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt and so do Simon Pegg (Benji), Jeremy Renner (Brandt), and Ving Rhames (Luther). Newcomers include Alec Baldwin and the incredibly gorgeous Rebecca Ferguson. I have a small lady crush on that beautiful specimen of a woman, who happens to also kick major butt throughout the entire movie. There is never a tedious moment in this movie and it will keep you at the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next. And then you’ll remember this is a Tom Cruise franchise and as such, it’ll all end well. Need I say Cruise did his own stunts on this one, too? That includes high-speed car and motorcycle chases (with crashes included), hanging off a plane during takeoff, and holding his breath underwater for an amount of time that’s almost not humanly possible. But, of course, you already knew that.
To summarize, if your thing is action movies, then you’ll like this. Very entertaining watch!
